TechTop 2010 – National Innovation Contest for Engineering Students kicks off tomorrow at Technopark






The fifth edition of the most sought after event by engineering students across the country: ‘TechTop 2010 – National Innovation Contest’ will kick start from tomorrow, July 30 to July 31, 2010. Techtop today is considered the biggest technical project competition involving engineering colleges in India and is branded by engineering students as a platform to showcase their innovations and an opportunity to realize their entrepreneurial dreams. TechTop will be inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister for Education and Culture, Shri M A Baby tomorrow and Dr. P Prabhakaran, IAS, Chief Secretary; Government of Kerala will give away the prizes to the winners on July 31, 2010.

Technopark, Trivandrum to celebrate 20 years of success.









It was in July 1990, the Government of Kerala conceptualized Technopark as a facility to foster the development of high-technology industries in the state. The foundation stone for the for the first building in Technopark was laid on March 31, 1991 by the then Chief Minister, E K Nayanar. It was India's first IT Park. On July 28, 2010, Technopark completes 20 years of promotion of IT in Kerala. By virtue of its world-class ICT infrastructure, fine human talent and the support from the State Governments, Technopark, has today become the leading IT/ITES player in India and on its way to be IT powerhouse. Currently TECHNOPARK is the single largest IT Park in the country with 4.5 million sq. ft. built-up area with 180 companies and 28,000 IT/ITES professionals.

111 New companies in Technopark

CM VS Achuthanandan announced that 111 companies have started operations in Technopark in the last four years. In the last fiscal Technopark did exports to the extent of Rs.452 crores and Infopark upto Rs.1576 crores. This year 2500 professionals will be recruited in the IT sector. 41 acres of Technocity land has received the SEZ status.

AZINOVA TECHNOLOGIES COMMENCES OPERATIONS FROM TECHNOPARK







Azinova Technologies P Ltd, an eminent software development company that creates customized software has commenced their operations from Technopark’s Smart Business Centre. The agreement to this effect was signed between Technopark CEO Mervin Alexander and Azinova CEO Shani L Ganga. With the commencement of Azinova, the total count of Technopark companies has gone up to 185.

Kerala IT’s Infopark Phase II approved as Special Economic Zone

Government of India has granted formal approval for approx 31 acres of Infopark Kochi Phase II for setting up of a sector specific IT/ITeS Special Economic Zone. This decision was taken at a meeting of the Board of Approvals, Ministry of Commerce, and Government of India, held at New Delhi.

Chief Minister launches e-learning network to deliver high quality learning experience for budding entrepreneurs

Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala, Shri V S Achuthanandan recently launched Technopark Technology Business Incubation Centre’s latest offering - an e-learning network http://www.ttbi.smartguruji.com. The online platform is launched with the objective to deliver high-quality multi-sensory learning experience for budding entrepreneurs and incubatees and to enhance entrepreneurial talents in a much easier and professional way to all the incubatees operating from various locations in the country.

"This new initiative is another first from Technopark-TBI adding one more feather in our cap. We hope this will encourage more and more budding entrepreneurs to start their own enterprise rather than looking for jobs elsewhere. IT Mission trained visually challenged students felicitated by Chief Minister

45 visually challenged trainees were today felicitated by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala, Shri V S Achuthanandan on successfully completing the Indira Gandhi National Open University’s (IGNOU) IT course named ‘Computer Training for Visually Challenged Persons’. CM also launched the fourth phase of INSIGHT activities at the same event. The fourth phase of INSIGHT, a project of Kerala State IT Mission envisages rolling out the project throughout Kerala with the aim of reaching out the benefits of IT training to persons with varied forms of disability, including persons with visual/physical/mental challenges, with the active involvement of Akshaya.

Toonz Academy ties up with Bharathiar University to offer BSc (Animation) course





Toonz Academy Trivandrum, division of the award winning Toonz Animation studio based in Technopark, has entered in to an agreement with Bharathiar University, Coimbatore that entitles Toonz Academy to offer BSc (Animation) degree course of the university from academic year 2010-11. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed between Dr P Thirumanavalan, Registrar of the university and Mr RK Nair, President, Toonz Academy.
